Joe Dever

Joe Dever was born in Woodford Bridge, Essex, in 1956. After the studies he began to work as a musician in Pye Studios, big London recording center. In the year 1977 he traveled to Los Angeles, where he experienced the famous fantasy adventure Role-Playing-Game (RPG) Dungeons & Dragons, becoming an immediate fan. In the year 1982 he took part in the United State's Championship of Dungeon & Dragons, as the only one participant from United Kingdom. And he won!

Inspired and encouraged by his success, Joe decided to quit the music business and devote his time to writing and games design. His life altered and pursued another destiny. In 1983, he wrote FLIGHT FROM THE DARK - the first Lone Wolf interactive gamebook. Flight from the Dark was first published in 1984. This first book sold more than 100,000 copies within its first month of publication. From 1982 on Joe Dever has appeared many times in newspapers, radio and television.

His most famous gamebook series about the last Kai knight Lone Wolf, published in many languages all over the world, is now available to all gamebook fans for free download throughout the AON Project.
