Wayne Densley

When asked to provide a short introduction about myself I must admit that I was somewhat hesitant at first. After all, what could I write that could possibly be of interest to others? In the end I decided that the basics would be best, and with an earnest desire to be brief I have put together the following information.

My name is Wayne Densley and I am the author of the Chronicles of Arborell. As of today I am 42 years old (and feeling every year of it), married with three children, all of whom are either taller or smarter than I could ever hope to be.

My family and I live on the south coast of New South Wales in Australia, only a short distance from some of the best beaches you'll find anywhere. I generally do not have much time for hobbies or any special interests but I do enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy and of course, writing interactive fiction.

It was only in the early 1990's that I first discovered gamebooks, at a time when my children began to bring them home. I was intrigued not only with the stories they told but the mechanics of the books themselves and the challenges inherent in their writing. I felt it was something I would like to try as well.

I began to write my first book, Windhammer, in 1993 and finished it that same year. Then, for a number of reasons, it was forgotten as the pressures of modern life turned my attention elsewhere. In 2000 I decided to give it another look and after a few incarnations now distribute it freely around the internet as the Windhammer Special Edition. Like most writers I can say that I am quite proud of how it turned out. The internet has given it a wide audience and so far this first book in the Chronicles of Arborell series has been well received.

Windhammer was written as an introduction to the world of Arborell. My intention is to develop a series of gamebooks and associated companion novella's that will pull together separate, but interwoven stories, into one huge epic adventure. I guess only the future will tell as to how successful this will be, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy Windhammer and its first companion book, The Inquisitor's Lament.

My second book Earth and Stone, and the second companion novella, Honour amongst Thieves, will be available shortly.
